Welcome!

This is just a short summary of this site. We´re sorry that the site is by far not available in English as a whole.

In Finland, Shoto Budo is part of the Finnish Karate-Do Shotokai (SKDS). This modern budo style of highly efficient self-defence capabilities is practiced not only here in the city of Kuusankoski, Finland, but also at various cities in Scotland under the same name. In Finland, we have sister clubs in Helsinki, Kuusamo, Oulu, Rovaniemi, Salo, Taivalkoski, Turku and Vantaa. There are links to their home sites on our links page.

Our practitioners are approximately from 15 to 50 years of age. We also have a very popular junior "department", that has as many as 40 to 50 children.

Our club organizes practices and weekend courses, but also sauna evenings and other activities. Our way of practicing is fast but relaxed. The coaches have such a high standard (two 5th dan´s and several other high ranks) and a very long practice history themselves, that practicing is not only motivating but also safe and enjoyable.

We arrange a basic course two times a year. As from 2011 we also now have a special fitness course twice a year as well. If you are an English-speaking person living in the nearby area, feel free to come over and take a look!

On this site you can find various kinds of information about our style (currently in Finnish only, sorry!). Anyway, you can always browse the picture pages.

Even more interested? Feel free to take a look, read and download our Style description and A Technical guide.
